The boarder (A) and the skier (me), are all set to head to our apartment in Morzine in 20 days. The apartment is booked. Our ski passes are ordered. We have various friends coming out to board & board with us over the five weeks we will be residing in the French Alps. A did a similar trip last year, staying in Les Contamines, however this is a new resort for us both and we are both extremely excited.
A little background: I have taken redundancy and rather than leap straight into another job I am taking some time out to recharge and refresh. My plan is rough and loose and likely to change, however it definitely includes living in new places and delving into new experiences. I've lived in Brighton for the last 20 years (bar a year in America while studying) and whilst I love Brighton I also want to have experienced living in other cities and places and right now i have the perfect opportunity. This ski trip is the first in a series of trips for me in 2010, hence the blog title.
I've setup the blog so that family and friends can keep up to date on where I am and what I am doing. Please post comments and messages to keep me up-to-date on your lives too.
More details! Which resort... How many double black diamonds.... Outfits.... !!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on choosing a year of adventure! You deserve it, and the world will be a better place for your volunteering to bring your smile to a broader audience.
Have fun in the mountains, and post when you can!

Hi Soph!
ReplyDeleteJust published more details. We are staying in Morzine however we can ski the whole of the Portes de Soleil area which is massive and takes us from France into Switzerland. The runs in Avoriaz are beautiful - a real winter wonderland.
Double black diamonds are a US / Canadian piste code, here there are just green (easy), blue (moderate), red (hard) and black (difficult) - then off-piste. This ski area is mainly blues and reds with a few blacks however there is a lot of off piste for powder hounds.
My outfit sucks - I need to work on it. I'm very out of date on the slopes - it's all acid colours and clashing patterns these days. Will update once I've updated my look.
More snow forecast this weekend - wooHoo!
Hey honey, lovely to read your blog - defo can relate to the 'gotta live in other cities' thing as you well know. You still heading to Berlin in June? Look like I'm gonna make the most of my Aussie visa and long it out for the time being - Berlin is still on my hit list though!... x x
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie,
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to be in Berlin from July - Sep!
Let me know if your plans change. If not we'll just have to come visit you when you are there!
